Sospeso, which can be found on one of the busiest blocks in the H Street Corridor in Northeast DC will serve its final meal on Sunday, April 7 as the owners prepare to shut down its operations.

The announcement was made on social media.

"It is with mixed emotions that we share this news: after seven incredible years, we’re preparing to CLOSE our doors in just two weeks," they posted on Instagram. "While it’s a bittersweet moment, we’re incredibly grateful for the journey we’ve shared with our amazing neighborhood."

According to Eater DC, the combination of crime and a lack of business contributed to the owners closing the popular restaurant.

"From creating jobs to hosting unforgettable events, every moment has been special because of our wonderful staff, friends, neighbors, many others," the owners continued. "Thank you for your unwavering support and for being part of our story."

A fixture in the area for seven years, Sospeso's menu features traditional Mediterranean fare, as well as a brunch menu, specialty cocktails homemade vermouth, desserts, as well as pastries and espresso drinks.

Patrons of the popular restaurant flooded the eatery's Instagram page following the announcement that it would be shutting down on April 7.

"Sospeso you’ve always extended an open invitation to the neighborhood and offered your space to so many of us to celebrate," one person wrote.

"Thank you also for allowing me to post up and do work on my laptop at the bar for hours on end. It’s with an incredible amount of gratitude that I say farewell."

"So incredibly sad to hear this," another customer posted. "One of my favorite spots in DC. Thank you for creating delicious meals and the coziest ambiance (and) service or your community. You'll be so missed."
